Inca Trail – the longest day

Esse é o dia mais longo, o perigo é ficar escuro e ainda não ter chegado ao acampamento....

This is the longest day and we are faced with the additional challenge of possibly not making it to the campsite before dark...

I wasn’t sure whether I should photograph the restrooms, but in the end I couldn’t resist the idea. In the picture it doesn’t look that bad and, besides, you can’t smell it from pictures

Runkurakay foi provavelmente um Tambo, local onde os mesageiros chasquis paravam para descansar e comer
Runkurakay was probably a Tambo, a place where the Chasquis messengers stopped to rest and eat

no acampamento montado só para o almoço, a cozinha em plena operação 
o ajudante passando farinha nos pastéis, o cozinheiro na fritura e o INACREDITÁVEL bolo de aniversário atrás, como eles assaram esse bolo não faço ideia,  mas foi um dos melhores que já comi na  vida, com glacê e DECORAÇÃO!!!

Here you can see all the busy cooks – the assistant chef preparing local savory pastries, the head chef preparing fried items and, in the background, a HUGE birthday cake for one of the group members. How they made it remains forever a mystery, but I can assure you that it was the best cake I’ve ever eaten.  It was even DECORATED!!!!
